Thanks very much for a very useful artical — just one thing I wanted to comment on — You mention above that a Windows domain contoller must be demoted first. Same panick here at first. That is not supported! From elevated cmd prompt the installation of productkey was less then one hour.
At first reboot of Domain Controller, the DC was incorrectly connected to private network instead of domain network. After gpupdate and a few 2x restarts everything seems fine again. Checked Winver.
